Love came down to the earth

It wasn't a time of abundance for most. It wasn't a time of peace for many. It was a time of widespread poverty, slavery, and unrest in a government that crushed those who didn't follow its strict ruling.

But in the midst the darkness, there was a faint ray of hope for God's people. They waited for a Messiah to come and free them from hardship and rule. "Someday, He will come. Then all will be right."

And so, He came. Not to rule as an earthly king, but to serve as the Kingly Priest. He came out of an eternal love for His children, and He came as a child. So different was this from man's expectations, that this miraculous event was not even noticed by most.

But the angels knew and sang glory. The shepherds heard and came running to adore him. The wise men read the stars and came from far away to honor the infant King. His mother and step-father knew and gazed in both parental love and childlike awe.

And today, we all know the story. Jesus came to love, to serve, to heal, to teach, to die for us, to save us, to take us to His eternal home. He lived on earth, and He lives today in all who choose Him as their King.

Glory to the King of kings!! Praise to God who sent His only Son to us out of His great love. And thanks to Jesus for coming to earth as an innocent baby and showing what pure love is all about.
